A to Z of Website Upgrades
Here's a breakdown of how we take your old website and turn it into something current, effective and appealing.
1 - Let's Chat
The first step is simple. Call or email us and start the conversation. Tell us what you have, what you want to keep and what you want to improve about your current website. You don't have to know the technicalities of it all, just tell us what you're trying to achieve and we'll figure out a way to make it possible.
2 - The Proposal
After weve had a chat about your website, we'll come up with a Development Proposal Outline. The DPO will contain all the information you need including a complete cost breakdown, an outline of all the work we intend to complete for you and timeframes. At this stage you're not locked in to any agreements, it's simply a way for you to make sure we understand exactly what you want.
3 - Handshakes
Once you're happy with the DPO we'll lock in the project. A 40% deposit is usually required up front and the rest is paid either on completion or in stages through development (depending on the size of the project). Youll know the milestones and intended delivery dates by this stage.
4 - Fresh Designs
The first deliverable you will recieve are concepts for the visual look of your website. Generally we'll create three concepts (unless youve specified the requirement of more of less). We'll ask you to provide feedback and we'll show you the changes we make to insure that you know exactly what you're getting before we start building.
5 - The Build
Now that weve got the designs completed we'll begin the build. Depending on your requirements, we'll build around your existing Content Management System or establish a new one for you. We'll make sure that your new website is compliant with current development standards and Google search friendly.
6 - Test Drive
When the build is finished we'll test your site on different computers, mobile devices, tablets and browsers to make sure it is working correctly on all devices. Then we'll give you a test drive to make sure everything works as you expected. At this time your old website will still be running for the public, so theres no risk of your customers seeing your unfinished site.
7 - Go Live
If you're happy with how everything works, we'll replace your old site with your new site. (Awesome!)
8 - Training
If you opted for a new Content Management System, we'll take the time to train your employees on how to use it.
9 - Reporting
We'll attach your current reporting system to the new website (or establish a new reporting system if you don't currently have one), so you can see the improvement your new site makes. Marking the go-live date youll be able to produce monthly comparison reports and get exact figures on how effective your new site is.
10 - Support
From this point on your website will be maintained and supported by Artifact (unless youve requested otherwise). If you run into any trouble, you can call or email to recieve local support to get your website back on track in the shortest possible time.
